Program Description:

 The program of studies leading to a Doctoral degree in Physical Education, Sports and Exercise Science with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction is designed to prepare individuals for college teaching and research in professional preparation programs in physical education dealing with curriculum development, teaching, and supervision of teachers and programs. Prospective students are those individuals with teaching experience in physical education who desire to work in a physical education teacher education program. Upon completion of the degree program, individuals should be equipped to teach courses in curriculum design, methods of teaching, foundations in physical education, and supervise student teachers.

Admission Requirements:

      Application materials for admission are available at Johnson Center 1150 or by calling 505-277-5151. The online Graduate Application Form can be found at the Graduate Studies Web site (http://www.unm.edu/grad). Click on “Admissions.”  A $50 non-refundable application fee will be charged with the online application.  A credit card is required.  In addition, applicants must submit one official transcript from all undergraduate and graduate institutions (except UNM) to the UNM Office of Admissions (P.O. Box 4849, Albuquerque, NM 87196-4849) by the semester published deadline.
