Program Description:

Information Systems (IS) is an interdisciplinary field combining aspects of management, information technology, and computer science. IS professionals contribute to organizations in many ways including:

  • Planning an organization's technology-related strategy and infrastructure
  • Acquiring, developing, and managing computer hardware, networks, software, and related services
  • Developing and managing an organization's databases
  • Analyzing data to improve an organization's marketing, operations, and strategic planning

Information assurance (IA) is an interdisciplinary field combining specialized aspects of computer science, computer engineering, information systems and accounting. IA professionals contribute to organizations in many ways including:

  • Securing networks, systems, and information services against threats
  • Ensuring privacy and confidentiality of an organization's data
  • Investigating fraud including both technical and financial aspects
  • Educating and training users and technical staff about security
  • Managing risks and ensuring compliance with security and privacy-related laws and regulations

Admission Requirements:

Advisement prior to first-semester enrollment and a formal plan of study is mandatory. Individual students will be advised to enroll in specific classes that match their intended career path and complement their bachelor's degree and work experience. Plan of study approvals will be granted by a designated faculty advisor or committee.

All Applicants

Must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States or its equivalent in another country.

Applicants Who Have Taken the GMAT or the GRE

  • Must have a GMAT/GRE score of 500 or better.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or better in their last 60 hours of coursework.

Applicants Seeking a GMAT or GRE Waiver

Program-specific Application Requirements

Master of Science in Information Systems and Assurance (MS ISA) Applicants

  • Completed bachelor's degree with at least 30 credit hours of courses in management, computer science, or computer-related engineering.
  • A GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 hours of college coursework including any post baccalaureate work.
  • A score equal to or greater than 500 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score equal to or greater than 500 for the "predicted GMAT total score" when using this conversion tool.
